DESCRIPTION:While robots have been employed in industrial contexts since t
he 1960s and have since extended their sensorial and intelligent capabili
ties\, the operation of today’s robots in everyday life is still very lim
ited. Whether it be public places\, work environments\, or life at home\,
physical robots are in general not yet capable of meaningfully interacti
ng with humans. Human Robot Interaction (HRI) – in contrast to HCI – d
id not yet make it to commercially successful applications relevant for e
veryday life.At our workshop\, we will discuss the current status and
technical challenges in relevant subdisciplines such as Speech Recogniti
on and Dialogue Processing\, Dexterous manipulation\, Computer Vision\, M
obile Robots and HRI as a discipline integrating all these fields. At the
end of the workshop\, we will discuss perspectives for the development o
f interactive robots that have the potential to intrude public life.  \n\
