DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Albert H. Werner\nUniversity of Copenhagen\n\n
Abstract:\nOur ability to benchmark\, verify\, and control quantum
devices ultimately rests on how well we understand their underlying dyna
mics. These dynamics are shaped not only by ideal Hamiltonian evolution\,
but also by time dependent effects and noise that arise in realistic set
tings. This talk will survey ideas for extracting meaningful dynamical de
scriptions of many qubit systems using simple\, local measurements. Empha
sis will be placed on how fundamental notions of locality limit the sprea
d of information and make large scale quantum dynamics accessible through
local data. The goal is to outline a set of ideas and methods that contr
ibute to ongoing efforts to understand and characterize the dynamics of c
omplex quantum devices.\n\nLocation: D-IAS Aud. (V24-501a-0)\, Dan
ish Institute for Advanced Study - DIAS\nThe event is open to all\nCréman
t and petit fours will be served after the talk
