DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Lennart Meier (Utrecht University) [nl][nl]\n[
b]Abstract:[nl]\nPartition functions of 2-dimensional supersymmetric
quantum field theories (SQFTs) are modular forms. Prominent examples are
the theta functions arising from lattice conformal field theories. A phil
osophy due to Segal\, Stolz and Teichner says that SQFTs allow a refineme
nt of the partition function to *topological modular forms*. In our talk\
, we will give a short introduction to this theory and discuss how to ref
ine theta functions to topological modular forms. If time allows\, we wil
l discuss the relationship to a potential new TQFT in dimension 3+1. \nTh
is is based on joint work with Sergei Gukov\, Slava Krushkal and Du Pei.
