DESCRIPTION:On this Wild Wednesday\, let’s jointly create wild new formats
for academic participation!\nOver the last decades\, there has been an i
ncreasing focus in higher education on articulating and supporting studen
ts in developing academic literacy\, not least to alleviate inequities be
tween students from differing sociocultural backgrounds. Perhaps unsurpri
singly\, the literature on academic literacy focuses on the intellectual
practices of academia (writing\, orally presenting\, discussing\, providi
ng constructive feedback etc.) and the appropriation\, production and cri
tique of these intellectual practices.\n\nHowever\, this ignores the ques
tion of how the physical environments and the students’ and teachers’ bod
ily activities themselves support or hinder student learning of participa
tion. In this design workshop\, we explore how to take embodiment serious
ly\, both in the overall organization of classrooms and educational forma
ts\, and in the continuous interaction of teachers and students in the ca
rrying out of educational formats. The aim is to develop interaction form
ats that support students in understanding themselves and others as agent
ic\, competent participants in academic practices.\n\nWild Wednesday host
ed by DIAS Fellow\, Pat Treusch\; Associate Professor Robb Mitchell\; and
  DIAS Chair Nina Bonderup Dohn
