 bstract:[/b][nl] \nIn this mini-course\, I will discuss some approaches t
 o the geometry of supersymmetric field theory that offer promising new pe
 rspectives on issues related to M-theory\, in particular on eleven-dimens
 ional supergravity and six-dimensional theories with (2\,0) supersymmetry
 . One key ingredient will be a structural analogy between superspaces and
  almost-complex manifolds\, which allows for a unified formulation of sup
 ersymmetric theories and their twists. Another will be the notion of fact
 orization current algebra and the factorization Noether theorem of Costel
 lo and Gwilliam. By the end\, I hope to have reviewed both some recent pr
 ogress and some outstanding questions related to twisted eleven-dimension
