DESCRIPTION:What constitutes excellence in research?\nWhat role does me
rit play in this equation\n\nDIAS is pleased to invite you to a panel
debate on academic merit and research excellence.\n\nAt a time when soci
ety demands greater inclusion\, enhanced social awareness\, societal impa
ct\, a broadened sense of academic citizenship\, and more qualitative app
roaches to academic assessment\, how can and should universities shape th
eir understanding of research excellence? How can universities best estab
lish fair\, transparent\, and ambitious standards of merit?\n\nA panel of
prominent DIAS researchers will address this pressing concern and engage
the public in a debate.\nThe panel will be chaired by DIAS director\, St
en Rynning\, who is also chairing an SDU task force on academic merit. \n
\nThe SDU task force is to draft a university-wide framework policy for a
cademic merit by the spring of 2025 and submit it to SDU’s executive boar
d. The framework policy must align with SDU’s strategy of investing in ex
cellent people and research\, and it must define criteria for research as
sessment at all levels of career progression. The ambition behind the tas
k force is to endow SDU with a clear\, ambitious\, and\, from the perspec
tive of researchers\, meaningful policy on academic merit. \n\nDIAS will
make its voice heard in this process\, and we encourage you to do likewis
e.\n\nPlease join us at the DIAS auditorium\nWednesday 25 September\n11.1
5-12.15.  \n\nThe panelists are:\n
\n
Aglae Pizzone\nDIAS S
