DESCRIPTION:Center for Subjectivity Research at the University of Copenhag
 en was established in 2002 on the basis of a grant from the Danish Nation
 al Research Foundation (Danmarks Grundforskningsfond). Its three founders
  were a philosopher\, a psychiatrist\, and a professor of systematic theo
 logy.  Since then\, it has had more than 80 employees\, attracted more th
 an 250 guest researchers\, and secured external funding in excess of 140.
 000.000 DKK. Currently\, its staff involves people with a background in p
 hilosophy\, psychiatry\, sociology\, anthropology\, and criminology. In m
 y talk\, I will outline the history of the center\, present some of its d
 istinctive features\, and discuss how it over the years has facilitated i
 nterdisciplinary collaboration.\n\n[b]About Dan Zahavi[/b]\nDan Zahavi is
  Professor of Philosophy and director of the Center for Subjectivity Rese
 arch at the University of Copenhagen. Zahavi’s primary research area is p
 henomenology and philosophy of mind\, and their intersection with empiric
 al disciplines such as psychiatry\, psychology\, and anthropology. In add
 ition to various scholarly works on the phenomenology of Husserl\, Zahavi
  has mainly written on the nature of selfhood\, self-consciousness\, inte
 rsubjectivity\, empathy\, and most recently on topics in social ontology.
  His most important publications include [i]Self-awareness and Alterity [
 /i](1999/2020)\, [i]Husserl’s Phenomenology[/i] (2003)\, [i]Subjectivity 
 and Selfhood[/i] (2005)\, [i]The Phenomenological Mind[/i] (together with
  Shaun Gallagher) (2008/2012/2021)\, [i]Self and Other[/i] (2014)\, [i]Hu
 sserl’s Legacy[/i] (2017)\, [i]Phenomenology: The Basics[/i] (2019)\, and
  [i]Being We [/i](forthcoming in 2025). His work has been translated into
  more than 30 languages.
